"Your Waste—Our Worry…"

Our Commitments

Health and Safety

Health and safety is of paramount importance to us and is always our number one priority. We work within the law and abide by all applicable legislation, including the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.

We take health and safety very seriously. Accidents in the waste management industry involving skips can cause serious and even fatal injuries. It is not just skips that can be dangerous – our processes, machinery and equipment and general operations all carry health and safety risks which need to be managed e.g. slips and trips, noise and the need for personal protective equipment.

We work hard to protect our employees through rigorous adherence to safe working practices. Our employees are fully trained to ensure that they work safely, competently and to our high standards at all times.

All of our skips are used safely and are regularly inspected and maintained. Our maintenance does not just involve cleaning skips and freshening up paintwork – it is more importantly about ensuring that all skips are fit for purpose and are safe to use. Our hook loaders are also regularly inspected and maintained, again to ensure that they are fit for purpose and are safe to use. All machinery and equipment is periodically serviced, routine safety checks take place before use, and the necessary protective equipment is provided for all employees.

Our drivers will not uplift skips which are overloaded, will be unsafe to lift using the hook loader, or are potentially unsafe to transport. Health and safety always comes first!

We are certified to ISO 9001 standard. This quality management certification helps us to meet the needs of our customers and our other stakeholders by monitoring, controlling and improving quality continually. We are committed to providing quality services and goods to every one of our customers.

Our commitment to quality includes us developing both our employees and our working practices. We also ensure that we have a great understanding of our customers’ diverse range of needs so that we can always meet – and hopefully exceed – their expectations.

We are certified to ISO 14001 standard. This environmental management certification assists us in minimising the impact of our operations on the environment, and to guide us in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and requirements. An Environmental Policy Statement and comprehensive procedures lead us on our mission to continually become a more environmentally friendly and sustainable business. These documents form the basis of our commitment to continual improvement in our environmental performance.

We operate in an industry which, whilst at the forefront of recycling activity, does at times get bad publicity in relation to environmental impacts. As one of the responsible businesses in the industry we are working hard to ensure that both our business and our industry are seen a positive light.

We are committed to helping to protect the environment by working to reduce our environmental impact. In recent years we have invested heavily in our own recycling facility in Bonnybridge, so that we can reuse and recycle as much waste as possible.

With a current recycling rate of 92%, we certainly believe that we are reducing our impact on the environment. Our innovative recycling facility has led to us diverting a large proportion of incoming waste from landfill – we currently send less than 10% of waste to landfill!

Despite our strong recycling efforts, we know that as a responsible business we need to do even more. We are fully committed to increasing our recycling rates over the coming years, thus diverting even more waste from landfill. We are also committed to investing further in our recycling operations in the hope that one day we will be able to meet our long-term target of sending zero waste to landfill. We are certainly moving in the right direction.
